Student Life
Learning, growing and belonging
Education at Nador International School (NIS) goes beyond lessons and subjects. School life gives students room to discover interests, develop responsibility, be active and build meaningful relationships. Within an international and engaged school community, students learn not only with each other, but also from each other and from the world around them.
More than education alone
The NIS experience
A school is more than a place where lessons are taught. It is a community in which students discover who they are, where their interests lie and how they can contribute to the world around them.
At NIS we want to create room for movement, creativity, initiative, collaboration and personal development. Activities in and beyond school support students in developing confidence, responsibility and a sense of belonging.
In this way, school life is a natural complement to learning in the classroom.
Room to discover and grow
Five pillars of school life
Belonging & community
We want students to feel part of NIS. Learning together, meeting one another, collaborating and taking responsibility for the school community help build strong relationships and a sense of belonging.
Wellbeing & personal development
Wellbeing is an important part of daily school life. Students are given room to grow in confidence, independence, resilience and responsibility, and learn to care for their own wellbeing and that of others.
Sport & movement
Movement and physical activity contribute to healthy and balanced development. Sports activities are organised outside the school building in suitable sports environments, matching the different activities and ages of our students.
Creativity, activities & enrichment
Beyond the regular curriculum, we want to offer students opportunities to discover new interests and talents. Creative, cultural and other enriching activities provide room to make, explore, collaborate and gain new experiences. The offering evolves along with students’ interests and the growth of the school.
Leadership & community engagement
As students grow older, they are given more and more opportunities to take initiative, carry responsibility and contribute to their school environment. Projects and activities can also bring students into contact with the wider community and encourage them to think about the contribution they themselves can make.
Connected to Nador & Morocco
Internationally oriented, locally connected
NIS combines an international orientation with a strong connection to Nador, Morocco and the community in which our students grow up.
The local environment, culture and society form a meaningful context for school life. Students are encouraged to get to know their own surroundings, appreciate different perspectives and look at the world around them with curiosity.
In this way they develop an international outlook while remaining connected to their own background, surroundings and community.
Learning beyond the classroom
The world as a learning environment
Learning does not only take place in the classroom. The world outside school can also offer students valuable experiences that connect with what they are learning.
Where the curriculum lends itself to it, NIS wants to enrich learning with, for example, excursions, visits, projects and other learning experiences beyond the classroom. These can connect with themes such as culture, nature, science, art and society.
The aim is not only to apply knowledge in a different environment, but also to let students investigate, experience and make connections between what they learn at school and the world around them.
Giving students a voice
Growing in responsibility
As students grow older, they are gradually given more room at NIS to contribute ideas, take initiative and carry responsibility within their own learning process and the school community.
The student voice has an important place in this. Students are encouraged to bring in ideas, collaborate, learn to make choices and, where appropriate, take on an active or leading role.
In this way they develop independence, leadership and a sense of responsibility step by step — not only for themselves, but also in relation to others and the community they are part of.
School life that grows with NIS
Phased development
School life grows along with the development of NIS and the number of students at the school.
From the start, the emphasis is on belonging, wellbeing, movement, creativity and meaningful experiences alongside learning in the classroom.
As the school community grows, the offering of clubs, activities, projects, student initiatives and other enrichment opportunities can be expanded further. New opportunities will match the ages, interests and needs of our students.
In this way, school life develops step by step into an ever richer NIS experience, shaped by the identity of the school and by the students who are part of it.
Become part of the NIS community
At NIS we want to build a school community in which students not only develop knowledge, but also discover, create, collaborate, take responsibility and feel connected to others.
