About Nador International School
Nador International School (NIS) is a new international school in Nador, Morocco. NIS aims to connect high-quality international education with personal development, multilingualism and strong engagement with the local community.
From opening, NIS will offer education within Cambridge Early Years, Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Lower Secondary. In a next development phase, the educational offering will be expanded with Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced.
As a new school, NIS offers staff the opportunity to contribute actively to the development of its education, school culture and school community.
About the role
As a Geography & History teacher, you deliver inspiring and purposeful teaching in both subjects within Secondary. You help students understand geographical and historical developments and encourage them to make connections between people, place, time and society.
You develop enquiry skills, map skills, source analysis and critical thinking and connect your teaching with relevant historical and current issues. You also contribute to the development of the Geography and History curriculum.
Key responsibilities
As a Geography & History teacher, you:
- plan and deliver high-quality, engaging geography and history lessons;
- make geographical and historical developments understandable and draw connections between people, place, time and society;
- develop enquiry skills, map skills, source analysis and critical thinking;
- encourage students to explore historical, geographical and societal issues from different perspectives;
- monitor and assess students’ development and give targeted feedback;
- contribute to the development of the Geography and History curriculum and work with colleagues on cross-curricular teaching;
- communicate professionally with students, parents and colleagues and contribute to the school community.
What you bring
Required qualifications
You have:
- a bachelor’s degree in geography, history, education or a comparable relevant field;
- a teaching qualification or an equivalent recognised qualification appropriate to the role;
- sufficient subject knowledge to teach both geography and history within Secondary;
- a good command of English;
- strong subject, teaching and pedagogical skills;
- the ability to connect geographical and historical topics with relevant current and societal issues;
- good communication and collaboration skills;
- a professional, responsible and student-centred working attitude.
Desirable:
- experience with Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE or a comparable international curriculum;
- experience in an international or multilingual school environment;
- experience with geographical and historical enquiry, map skills and/or source analysis;
- command of French and/or Arabic.
